EXPAND YOUR KNOWLEDGE AND NETWORK!

This is your opportunity to pick the brains of experts working with apps. This Unconference at AAU Cph is the place to be if you want to network with likeminded app-enthusiasts, meet the experts, and share your knowledge.

The concept is that all participants share ideas, experience, and points of view within apps. Thereby, the ones joining are the ones to form the program of the day. That means that everyone with something to say, share, ask, acknowledge, or are just curious about apps are invited.

MAIN THEMES OF THE UNCONFERENCE 2015:

No topic is more interesting than others, but the participants vote with their feet attending the different kinds of talks, presentations, workshops, roundtable discussions or whatever format the presenters prefer to deliver.

Furthermore, we have arranged food, drinks, and a DJ to spread some love during the whole day. All we need is for you to show up and have a great time.

WHAT’S AN UNCONFERENCE:

An unconference is a participant-driven meeting. The term “unconference” has been applied, or self-applied, to a wide range of gatherings that try to avoid one or more aspects of a conventional conference, such as fees, sponsored presentations and long key notes, and top-down organization. Typically at an unconference, the agenda is created by the attendees at the beginning of the meeting. Anyone who wants to initiate a discussion on a topic can claim a time and a space. Unconferences typically feature open discussions rather than having a single speaker at the front of the room giving a talk, although any format is permitted. You have the chance to set the agenda and bring in your own expertise on this day. Furthermore, we have arranged food, drinks, and a DJ to spread some love during the whole day. All we need is for you to show up and have a great time.

The AAU Incubator – From Idea to Launch in 3 sessions

The AAU Incubation Program will help you realize your business idea and help you clarify how you will best reach the market with your potential business. We will help you develop and validate your idea before investing time and money, provide you with the tools for defining your customer group and methods for developing the idea into a viable business model. When you have finished the program, you will be ready to write your business plan and start your business. You will have access to guidance from our staff, help with business development, and our network of experts around and outside the university.

Participating in the AAU Incubator and guidance is free. We only expect you to work dedicated on developing and validating your idea. The AAU Incubator is extracurricular, but aligned with the semester structure at Aalborg University and is open for students and newly graduates from Aalborg University. The course is validated by participation and a handed in assignment.

The AAU Incubator is limited to 25 persons per semester.

Module 1 – Idea Development and Validation

Date & Time: 09 April 2015 from 16:00 to 20:00

In Module 1 we will work with development of ideas, how to validate your business idea, and how to use databases for researching markets and customers. We will look into how to define the value we are providing our customers and make hypotheses about our businesses regarding customers, market, etc. By looking at examples on how to validate existing business, we will discuss how to validate our own businesses.

Module 2 – Customer Development and Market Size

Date & Time: 21 April 2015 from 16:00 to 20:00

In Module 2 we will focus on how to develop our customers; by using the data from our validation in Module 1, we will have confirmed our hypotheses and assumptions about the market segment(s) for our idea. We will focus on the possible potential for the business idea regarding market size, look at market segmentation, and develop a persona, which represent our potential customer. Finally, we will define a beachhead market (initial segment), where we can focus and establish our business.

Module 3 – Business Models and Business Model Canvas

Date & Time: 28 April 2015 from 16:00 to 20:00

In Module 3 we will work with the complete business model. A business model is a mapping of the complete business and all the processes in order to visualize revenue, costs, and how the business will deliver value to the customers. We will discuss existing business models and how innovative business models can change the existing markets and challenge the status quo. We will work with our ideas and customer segments from the previous modules as base for mapping the business models of each participant. Finally, we will discuss each others’ business models and provide feedback for optimization.

SIDMobile explores the use of non-speech sound in mobile application development, user interfaces, and interactive experiences, where the sensors track continuous human activities such as singing, walking, or shaking the mobile phone, and non-speech audio facilitates continuous interaction.

As smartphones are part of life everywhere and all the time, their nature has changed from mere function to a tool for self- expression, creativity, or play. Mobile application development embraces this change, as evidenced by the popularity and profits of sound and music applications and games in various application stores.

SIDMobile invites DAL citizens to share their needs, know-how, tools, and techniques concerning mobile (audio) programming and interaction design.

Topics of interest

All apps/developers that plan to utilize non-speech audio in mobile and pervasive environments and devices are welcome to SIDMobile. Possible areas include, but are not limited to:

Multimodal User Interfaces for Mobile Devices . Robust, Context and Activity Recognition in Noisy and Resource-constrained Environments . Distributed Audio Processing . Audio-based Mobile Games . Sound and Music Computing mobile platforms . Sound Sonic Interaction Design on mobile platforms. Audiowalks and audio augmented reality

Intended audience

We invite all DAL citizens who are interested in / planning to implement elements of Sonic interaction and Mobile computing, multimodal interfaces, mobile HCI, mobile applications and UI design, audio augmented reality.

Agenda

The half-day workshop will be divided into 2 sessions.

The first session includes background presentations of the organizers and tour of ideas from DAL citizens.

The second session will be hands on, where all participants will share their experiences on the architecture and application programming interfaces (APIs) relevant for interactive mobile audio applications. Stefania Serafin, Aalborg University Copenhagen, Denmark, sts@create.aau.dk Professor with special responsibilities in sound for multimodal environments in Medialogy at AAU-CPH, teaching and leading research on sound models and sound design for interactive media and multimodal interfaces. Prof. Serafin is the president of the Sound and Music Computing (SMC) Network and coordinates the SMC master program at AAU-CPH.

 


Wiredelta Techtalk + Appsfunder Intro

Wiredelta will provide you with an introduction to the various tech-possibilities within both web and mobile, so you can find the one that suits your project best. They will include real-life references in order for you to learn from others mistakes.

Appsfunder will introduce you to how to get your mobile app project funded through their website.

Re-opening of Danish App Lab

The App Lab has been undergoing quite a few changes lately, and the atmosphere in the environment is beginning to get more and more interesting. Therefore, we will host a re-opening event in the App Lab as we have everything ready. At the Re-opening of Danish App Lab, you will be able to:

  • Meet citizens of the App Lab
  • Hear what they are working on
  • Mingle with like-minded people
  • Have a beer! (or soda)

Hackathon with Picturize

Help us build a state of the art mobile application for visual surveys, get 3.000 DKK and use this project in your future reference. There are free food and drinks through out the three days.

In Picturize we work with pictures and how they create value in understanding new markets.
In addition to our (soon finished) photo competition app, we need to build an iOS and Android mobile application specific for visual surveys. There will also have to be a web dashboard and an admin module. Finally we need a database to support big data. Peeeeew, thats a lot – Thats why we need your help!
